"Chief Minister Arjun Munda has (recently) set up a three-member Ministerial Committee to define a 'local policy' in this regard," HRD Minister Baijnath Ram informed the House.

"The government is serious to give job opportunities to locals," he said and added the GoM comprised Deputy Chief Ministers Sudesh Mahto, Hemant Soren, besides himself.

Mahto said there were several vacant posts apart from teachers' post to be filled up through recruitments and a clear definition of locals would be mentioned while submitting recommendations to the cabinet in order to speed up the recruitment process.

Their replies came in response to a calling attention motion moved by Jharkhand Janadhikar Manch MLA Bandhu Tirkey, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MLA Akeel Akhtar and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha MLA Arun Mandal.

They demanded change in rules set by the HRD in the recruitment of teachers because under the current guidelines 30,000 B.Ed applications and commerce graduates would be deprived of taking the upcoming Teacher's Eligibility Test.

The trio got support from all the members in the House with senior BJP MLA and former deputy chief minister Raghuvar demanding that the government should "define the domicile policy" to enable locals get priority in government jobs.
