"Three wagons, of the 44-wagon-train carrying goods derailed near Safale around 6 PM. Due to this, long distance trains coming to Mumbai have been affected while trains leaving the city are being operated with speed restriction," said Ravindra Bhakar, chief PRO of Western Railway.
He said that efforts of rerailing are on at a warfooting and it is expected that trains would be resumed before midnight.
"Our team of engineers and senior officers are doing every bit to restore the services," he said.
Western Railway has appealed to the passengers to enquire with the railways before embarking on journey.
