There were no casualties in the accident. The truck driver, however, sustained minor injuries, SP Mishra, PRO, North Eastern Railway said here.
The truck loaded with potatoes broke the rail barrier at at Nibihawa crossing under Chauri Chaura police station in the wee hours and hit the oncoming goods train, he said.
The engine and two wagons of the train derailed.
Further details are being ascertained, he said, adding that the rail line was repaired and normal traffic resumed at 8 AM.
