Goods worth Rs 1.73 cr seized in Goa Metrology dept raids

The Goa Legal Metrology department on Friday seized goods worth Rs 1.73 crore during raids to check content violations, an official said.

The searches were conducted at industrial estates of Sancoale in South Goa and Mapusa in North Goa, he said.

"Goods worth Rs 1.73 crore were seized during the raids. In Sancoale, near Vasco, we found 4,200 rum bottles worth Rs 21.5 lakh. In checks in Upasnagar industrial estate in South Goa, 37 packages of sealing ring retainer and radial shaft sealing ring worth Rs 22 thousand was confiscated for not bearing month and year of manufacturer," he said.

In a raid conducted in a liquor bottling plant in Tivim industrial estate, 42,000 brandy packages worth Rs 1.51 crore were seized for having, he said.
