Goods worth Rs 40 lakh stolen from godown

A gang of robbers allegedly broke inside warehouse of a transport company here and looted goods worth Rs 40 lakh.
The robbers last night demolished a wall of the godown of Associate Road Transport Carrier on Ambala-Naraingarh Road, close to Ambala City, and took away containers of transformer oil, batteries and hosiery goods worth Rs 40 lakh, they said.
The incident came to light when some farmers noticed containers and other goods lying in their fields behind the warehouse.
J S Shekhawat, regional head of the company, said according to preliminary estimates the robbers took way around 250 containers of transformer oil worth Rs 25 lakh.
Besides, the thieves managed to take two dozen batteries, hosiery goods and other materials worth over Rs 15 lakh.
He said that these goods were to be sent to Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar and other parts of Punjab and Chandigarh.
