Google be prohibited from releasing map data, BJP MP demands
Press Trust of India New Delhi The Survey of India should be made the sole provider of map services in the country and not private players such as Google, a BJP member today said in Rajya Sabha.
Raising the issue during special mention in the House, Tarun Vijay demanded that, Google which has collected a lot of data about places in the country, be prohibited from releasing any kind of map data.
"Survey of India should be the sole provider of map services in the country," he said.
Vijay also sought use of National Informatics Centre (NIC) e-mail accounts by government officials for enhanced cyber security.
Meanwhile, Derek O' Brien (TMC) raised concern over denial of pension to disabled soldiers on frivolous grounds and urged the government to ensure that pension to them is released at the earliest.
