Robert Arthur Moog, who was born on May 23, 1934 in New York, started his career in building electronic musical instruments as a teenager.
Moog, who did his PhD in engineering physics from Cornell University, had even set up two companies for manufacturing electronic musical instruments.
His 'Moog synthesizer is regarded as a milestone that inspired many and laid the foundation for making of synthesizers in the following years.
Moorg was honoured with a Grammy Award for his technical achievements in 2002. He died of brain tumour on August 21, 2005.
