Construction of bus terminals in Gopalpur and Berhampur is likely to be completed in August and October, respectively.
"The project work is in full swing and both the terminals will be opened before Dussehra," Subash Moharana, Chairman of Berhampur Development Authority, which is executing the projects, said.
Official sources said Revenue divisional commissioner (southern division) Sanjay Singh, who yesterday reviewed development works here, has set October deadline for the Berhampur terminal coming up on 3.09 acre at Haladiapadar, on the outskirts of the town. The terminal at Gopalpur is spread over 4 acre.
"The state government has released Rs 12 crore of Rs 13.32 crore for Haladiapadara bus termnal and Rs 4 crore of Rs 5.36 crore for the one at Gopalpur," said secretary of the development agency Dipti Mohapatra.
Besides the bus termnal, a bus depot is being constructed at Haladiapadar with an investment of around Rs 2 crore. "We want to expand the bus terminal at Haladiapadar and will approach the government for land, owned by IDCO, near it," she said.
Mohapatra said the terminal at Gopalpur will boost tourist flow to the beach resort town.
The development agency has finalised tender for Rs 5,40 crore bus terminal at the district headquarters town of Chhatrapur. "We will soon issue work order for the terminal to come up on 3 acre. The government has already sanctioned Rs 1 crore for the purpose," she added.
