Governance will not be compromised even after merger: Nitish

Senior JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar today said there would be no compromise over the issue of governance after merger of splinter Janata parivar parties even as his party initiated first step towards the process by endorsing assimilation of old Janata Parivar parties.

"There will be no compromise with governance even after merger," Kumar told reporters while seeking to allay fear of return of days of bad law and order situation during past RJD rule.

Kumar, who is expected to lead the united Janata Parivar in Bihar if it wins in Assembly poll later this year, had yesterday also used famous Bollywood film name "Main Hoon na" to allay such fear over alliance with RJD of Lalu Prasad.

Speaking after a meeting of JD(U) Political Advisory committee at state party headquarters, Kumar said consensus has been reached over merger and only some formalities were left to be completed.

Asked whether he would lead the united Janata Party, Kumar said it would be decided after completion of the process.

Bihar JD(U) President Basistha Narayan Singh, who presided over the party meeting today, told PTI that everybody welcomed campaign to merger parties of erstwhile Janata Parivar and hailed pioneering role played by Nitish Kumar in this regard.

He said the party leaders have agreed in principle for the merger and expected the process to be completed at the earliest by senior leaders.

After political advisory committee meeting today, JD(U) would hold a meeting of state executive tomorrow in which merger would be an important agenda among others, he said.

It was decided in the meeting today that Nitish Kumar, who is driving force of JD(U) would start "Jansamparak rally" in all 243 Assembly constituencies of the state from January 17 next.

The rally would begin from Sikta Assembly constituency in West Champaran district.

The state party chief said the meeting was of the opinion that Kumar's "Samparak yatra" in November last was great success and exuded confidence and Samparak rallies would be even a bigger success.
