"As per the state government's order, the entry of mediapersons in ICU, OT, Poly-trauma ward, Emergency and Burn ward in Sawai Man Singh hospital is banned," a release issued by the hospital here stated.
"Mediapersons will have to show their identity cards when asked and they will have to take permission from the patient before clicking any photo in general ward," the release stated.
President of Pink city press club Kishore Sharma objected to the decision of the government and said in an earlier meeting, media representatives had given consent to restrict entry in areas which are highly sensitive.
"We know how to function sensitively. It is not the decision taken in the meeting and we will take up the issue with the state government," he said.
Principal, SMS medical college, Subhash Nepalia said the hospital administration decided to take these steps after discussing the issue with representatives of the press club.
He said entry was restricted for smooth functioning of the hospital.

"I forwarded the order of the state government to the hospital superintendent ten days back on the basis of which the directions were issued," he said.
Principal Secretary, Medical Education, Mukesh Sharma said the entry was restricted not banned.
"The guidelines are just for proper functioning of the hospitals and it should not be taken as banned," he said, adding, the guidelines will be followed by other hospitals of the state.
