Government official caught accepting bribe

A 58-year-old government official was caught red-handed today while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 from a farmer here by the Lokayukta police.
Suresh Sharma was caught taking a bribe of Rs 1,000 from Subhash Patidar (53) for clearing Rs 3,000 under a state government-run and funded cultivation scheme at Harsola village, Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police D S Gujar said.
"We laid a trap and caught Sharma, Rural Agriculture Extension Officer taking the bribe at the farmer's residence," the DSP said.
Sharma has been booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigations are on, Gujar said.
