As part of the drive, some chemist shops were also raided and action was taken against the erring ones.
"Six inspection teams comprising IASs, SDMs, deputy secretaries and DANICS trainee officers inspected government hospitals like Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital in Khichripur, Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini and Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital in Jahangirpuri," a Delhi government statement said.
Three other teams visited as many private hospitals.
While in one private hospital, the team found that free medicines were not being provided to OPD patients and helpdesk for the economically weaker sections (EWS) absent, in another hospital, only one patient was found admitted against 14 free beds.

"In another hospital, neither helpdesk for EWS patients was available nor EWS patients were informed of their entitlement for free treatment. Two such EWS patients were found during the inspection, who had paid for hospital services despite being eligible," the statement said.
Apart from that none of the three private hospitals were displaying the boards showing the provision and availability of free treatment to EWS patients and the real time availability of free beds was not displayed.
Instances of malpractices such as touts, discrepancies in surgical store and poor record keeping in MRD section were found.
