Governor, TN CM extend Deepvali greetings to people

: Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today extended their Deepavali greetings to the people.
The Governor conveyed his "heartiest greetings" and best wishes to the people of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and to those living in other parts of the country.
"May Diwali, 'The Festival of Lights' enlighten our minds with noble thoughts, fill our hearts with compassion and love and usher in peace, progress and prosperity," he said in a Raj Bhavan statement.
Jayalalithaa recalled that Deepavali is being celebrated to mark the annihilation of Narakasura by Lord Vishnu for creating hardships to people, adding it was celebrated with a lot of joy and fervour.
The day is celebrated by waking up early and with new dresses and by bursting of crackers, she said in a statement.
"I pray to God on this auspicious day that there shall be all-round peace and unity and all the welfare in people's lives," she said and extended her festival greetings.
BJP's state unit President Tamizhisai Sounderrajan and Minister of State for Shipping, Pon.Radhakrishnan, also extended their greetings.
