Governor to preside over Himachal Day function on April 15

Governor Urmila Singh will preside over the state-level 67th Himachal Day celebrations here on April 15, with the Model Code of Conduct for Lok Sabha polls barring the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues from doing so.
The Governor will preside over the state-level function at the historic Ridge Maidan in Shimla, while deputy commissioners will preside over similar functions at their respective district headquarters.
Himachal Pradesh was formed on April 15, 1948 with merger of 30 erstwhile princely states and conferred Union Territory status after Hill areas of Punjab were merged with it on November 1, 1966 under the Punjab Reorganisation Act.
Himachal Pradeh became the 18th state of Indian Union with grant of full statehood on January 25, 1971.
