A delegation led by Congress party's Maharashtra unit president Manikrao Thakre met the Governor at the Raj Bhavan today evening, sources said.
The meeting lasted for 20 minutes during which former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, Rajya Sabha member Balchandra Mungekar and senior Congress party leader B A Desai put forth the party's stand on the controversial voice vote won by the Fadnavis government on Wednesday.
Chavan expressed regret at the inconvenience caused to the Governor when he was at the Vidhan Bhavan to deliver his first address at the joint sitting of both the houses.
"The strength of the government on the floor of the house should have been ascertained through numbers and a division of vote was necessary. However, the Speaker did not record how many were against the motion. It is incorrect that the Congress did not seek division of vote on time. The process of voice vote was not conducted as per constitutional provisions," Congress leaders told the Governor.
