The decision will cost Rs nine crore to the exchequer yearly, an official said.
In another decision, the cabinet sanctioned additional 200 beds at Beed district hospital, taking the total number of beds there to 500. The hospital will be upgraded, additional land would be made available for new constructions and 125 new posts would be created, the official said.
The condition of 10 per cent public contribution in rural water supply schemes has been scrapped. The cabinet decided today that government itself would pay the share that was to come from the local gram pachayats.
The proposal to conduct elections for the posts of municipal council presidents and vice presidents was approved, and earlier decision to give extension to incumbents was revoked.
