The decision was taken at a meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here.
"The Chaityabhoomi of Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar is situated in the vicinity of the land of Indu-6 mill of NTC Mumbai, a place of pilgrimage for millions of Indians," an official statement said.
The Cabinet had already approved the transfer of land to Maharashtra for construction on payment of compensation as required under section 11A of the Sick Textile Undertakings (Nationalisation) Amendment Act, 1995, and ratified a tripartite MoU signed between the central government and Maharashtra and NTC.
