Unhappy over the non-adherence to its directive of deciding sanction for prosecution against corrupt officials within a stipulated time limit, the Centre has issued a missive to all its allied departments for its strict compliance.
The move followed a review meeting by the Secretary of Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on pending cases of sanction of prosecution in which various discrepancies, in violation of its existing directives, were noted on the part of various government departments.
It also suggested that a disciplinary authority should not entertain representations from individuals in this regard as it would delay in deciding on the cases.
In a significant number of cases pertaining to banks and PSUs, it was noted that the disciplinary authorities first decline the sanction and thereafter seek advice of Central Vigilance Commission, an apex body for vigilance matters, which is a clear violation of laid down norms. (more)
