In a move reflecting a renewed concern for the common man, Uttarakhand government today asked administrative heads of all the 13 districts in the state to hold Janta darbars once a week to know about people's problems and ensure their time-bound redressal.
Directives to this effect were issued by Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar to the District Magistrates at the behest of Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna who himself held a Janta Milan programme at his official residence yesterday and met about 1000 people from different parts of the state.
The Chief Secretary said after holding such programmes, the DMs should send him a report giving details like the turnout, the number of complaints redressed and the number of complaints yet to be redressed.
These programmes should be held once every month at the district headquarters and for the rest of the weeks in remote areas, he said.
