Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said that his government's aim is to provide drinking water to everyone in the state and 50 per cent of the population will be able to avail the facility by 2020.
"The government is committed to provide drinking water to all the people of the state and work is underway. The government's aim is to provide drinking water to 50 per cent of the population through pipe-line by 2020," an official release quoted Das as saying.
Laying the foundation stone of a pipeline service at Petarwar in Bokaro, he said, "Only 12 per cent of the population had water supply facility till March, 2015, which has been increased to 30 per cent this year."
"Priority would be given in supplying water through pipeline to those districts, blocks, villages and panchayats which have been made free from open defecation," the Chief Minister said.
