According to the corrected version, the Group of Ministers (GoM), and not the Government as said earlier, has accepted 69 recommendations of the CANR, including three with some modifications.
The earlier reply, which was tabled in the Rajya Sabha on August 9, 2012 had said that "Government has accepted 69 recommendations of the CANR. One recommendation has not been accepted by the Government. Eleven recommendations of the CANR are under consideration."
The government, during arguments in the Presidential reference seeking reconsideration of the apex court's judgement
on 2G spectrum scam case, had told the Supreme Court that the Finance Ministry would correct information provided in the Rajya Sabha question.
In his statement, tabled in the Upper House today, Minister of State for Finance Namo Narain Meena said, "GoM on measures that can be taken by the government to tackle corruption has accepted 69 recommendations of the CANR, including three recommendations with some reformulations. One recommendation has not been accepted by the GoM. Eleven recommendations of CANR are under consideration."
The Minister added, however, "It has been decided that all the 69 recommendations agreed to by the GoM would be pursued for implementation by individual Ministries in a timely manner. MORE
