Govt departments to analyse World Bank's doing biz report

The central government ministries and departments have been asked to analyse the World Bank's latest report on ease of doing business, Parliament was informed today.
"Ministries/departments concerned have been provided with the next set of reforms and have been asked to identify additional areas related to the department where reforms and corrective measures need to be taken to ensure time bound and effective implementation of the reforms," Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
India's rank remained unchanged at 130th out of 190 countries in the World Bank's latest report.
The minister also informed that nodal departments/ ministries have been identified towards various 10 indicators of the report.
"Each such department/ministry shall, in coordination with state government of NCT of Delhi and Maharashtra be responsible for reducing procedures, time and cost across each indicator," she said.
Further, they have been asked to pursue regular engagements with stakeholders to receive feedback/inputs and also conduct workshops with the users and stakeholders to familiarise them with the reforms.
The government has been making efforts to further improve the ease of doing business and aims to bring the country in the top 50.
