Govt depts asked to emulate example set by Rlys in cleanliness

Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu today asked all government departments to emulate the example set by the Indian Railways for cleanliness inthe country.
Inaugurating the "Swachh Bharat, Swachh Rail week," driveat the railwaystationhere, he said, "Indian Railways has set anexample for cleanlinessinthe country andhas become a role model. Other departments should also emulate it."
The Swachh Bharat Mission launched by Prime Minister NarendraModihas become a mass movement in the country, Naidu said.
Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu, who spoke on the occasion, said the nine-day campaign 'Swachhta Saptaah', was successfully conducted inRailways from September 17 ending today.
Minister for Rural development, Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and Sanitation,Narendra Singh Tomar stressed the need for takingthe message of cleanliness to rural areas.
Volunteers of National Service Scheme and the public tookout a rally in the city.
To commemorate the second anniversary of the launch of SwachhBharatMission, a cleanliness drive has been launched by theCentre from September 25, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Jayanti till October 2, Gandhi Jayanthi.
