Govt doctor suspended for laxity in treatment

Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij today suspended a doctor at a hospital here for alleged laxity in providing treatment to TB patients and other irregularities at the health centre.
Vij ordered the action during his surprise visit to Indira Gandhi Multi Speciality Hospital, an official release said.
He also ordered inquiry against staff members who had not been signing the attendance register.
The inquiry in this regard will be conducted by the Deputy Commissioner of Kaithal.
The Health Minister said the state government will not tolerate any kind of indiscipline, the release said.
He said the patients should be provided with all healthcare facilities in hospitals so that they do not have to face any difficulty.
Pointing out irregularities in the attendance register of the doctors and supporting staff of hospitals, Vij said such kind of negligence and "casual approach towards work" will not be tolerated as it affects the patients.

Vij also ordered an enquiry into a complaint regarding alleged demand of Rs 12,500 by a doctor for operation of a patient. He also inspected the stock of medicines and the wards and other facilities of the hospital, the release said.
Speaking to reporters later, Vij said special steps will be taken to improve the healthcare facilities in the state.
Besides enhancing the budget for the health sector, the available budget will be used in such a manner that maximum healthcare facilities are made available to the people of the state, he said.
Vij said all state hospitals will soon have online records, which will help patients in getting treatment at any hospital as their health record, treatment and test reports can be accessed at any hospital in the state.
In the first phase, this facility will be made available in all district hospitals. In the second phase, rest of the hospitals will be provided with this facility, he added.
The Health Minister said a plan is also underway to provide dialysis facility in all district hospitals and later on all hospitals will be equipped with this facility.
"Our effort is to ensure that patients should get all test facilities within the hospitals," he said.
The Minister said all possible steps are being taken to overcome the shortage of doctors in state hospitals.
Recently, 400 doctors have been issued appointment letters and 200 of them have already joined duty, he said.
