The workers, under the banner of State Government Employees Joint Action Committee (SGEJAC), alleged the state government has failed to concede to various demands of the employees, which are lying pending for the past two years.
"As per the decision of the executive body of SGEJAC, a day-long protest against the government will be held on September 24 at the Press Club in Jammu," SGEJAC leader Sushil Sudan told reporters here today.
Welcoming the formation of a cabinet sub-committee headed by Finance Minister A R Rather to look into their demands, the committee, however said "Its approach to invite just a few selected employees of their choice is questionable."
The employees' demands included regularisation of all daily wage, ad-hoc and consolidated employees, removal of pay anomalies, payment of arrears, budgetary support for PSUs, release of DA instalment, increase in medical allowance and special allowance to employees serving in rural areas.
