The statement filed by K V Santosh, DYSP, CB-CID, Kannur, said the role played by the accused, Pradeepan, had been very vital and that he had prior knowledge of the murder.
Another accused, Sunil Kumar had handed over five blood stained swords to Pradeepan with a direction to conceal it, the statement said.
Pradeepan was also an accused in another case, it added.
The accused had been convicted and sentenced by special additional sessions court at Kozhikode in January this year.
The court had posted the appeal filed by Pradeepan, who was convicted for three years under section 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of IPC, for today.
According to the accused, there is no evidence to implicate them in the case. They contended that the lower court has believed the entire prosecution story disregarding the fact that the witnesses were bogus.
