Out of the 130 sanctioned positions, as many as 57 posts were vacant at the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) at the start of this year, the government told the Lok Sabha today.
In a written reply, Corporate Affairs Minister Arun Jaitley said that out of 28 Recruitment Rules (RRs) for various categories of posts in SFIO, two have been notified and six have been sent for notification.

"The remaining 20 RRs have been finalised and are in advanced stage of notification," he said.
Besides, the Ministry has initiated various measures, including approving a scheme for engaging experts, to strengthen the administrative set-up and ensure smooth functioning of SFIO.
Approval for filling up 9 posts in SFIO on deputation basis has been accorded in September. Besides, empanellment of 94 chartered accountant firms at the agency was cleared in October, Jaitley said.
Further, approval has been given for appointment of 24 consultants in various fields to SFIO in November.
In its report tabled in Parliament on December 3, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance said it was constrained to observe that capacity building has not materialised at the investigation agency.
