"The MIP of cardamom...Is fixed at Rs 500 per kg with immediate effect," the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification.
An importer cannot import the commodity below this rate.
Cardamom growers particularly from Kerala have expressed serious concerns over increasing imports from countries such as Guatemala.
Imports of cardamom (small) increased to 1,110 tonnes in 2013-14 from 95 tonnes in 2009-10.
In a separate notification, the DGFT has banned exports of shark fins.
