The government has set up an inter-ministerial committee, headed by Secretary Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP), for restricting imports of second hand radiology products into the country.
The other members of the committee include a representative of Secretary Department of Commerce, WHO Centre for Health Technology Director and representative of Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB).
"The committee has been formed to look into the issue of stopping of second hand imports of radiology products into India, including the approval requirements, patients, safety and barriers to domestic industry," an official notification said.
The Chairman of the committee may also decide to invite other government agencies officials or representatives of industry or their associations to the meeting in the interest of the more effective resolution of the issues, it added.
