A junior clerk of a government rural hospital in Ratnagiri district was trapped by ACB sleuths for accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000.
Accused Mahesh Pawar working in the health department was caught by Ratnagiri unit of the ACB which falls under Thane range, ACB sources said today.
The clerk, who is accused to have demanded 20 per cent of the DA amount sought by pharmacist Jitendra Valiv after his transfer from Ratnagiri PHC to Rajapur PHC in 2011, was caught last night, they said.
Valiv had been repeatedly reminding the clerk to process his DA but the clerk did not acede and demanded a bribe.
Aggrieved, the pharmacist lodged a complaint with the Ratnagiri unit of the ACB which laid a trap near the Khanifnat Sugar Cane juice centre and arrested the clerk red-handed.
An offence has been registered with the Ratnagiri city police station against Pawar under the provisions of the prevention of Corruption Act of 1988, ACB sources added.
