There should be no shortcoming in health services in govt hospitals: Omar

J&K CM underlines the importance of keeping all govt hospitals fully equipped with necessary medicines and equipment

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said all government-run hospitals in the state should be fully equipped with necessary medicines and equipment so that there is no shortcoming in health services.

"The Chief Minister underlined the importance of keeping all government hospitals fully equipped with necessary medicines and equipment and emphasised the need for making the recently-constituted Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (JKMSCL) fully functional," a spokesman said.

The Chief Minister said this while chairing the second meeting of the JKMSCL here.

"Till the time, the corporation takes over the procurement task fully, the concerned medical and health departments should ensure availability and supply of medicines and equipment as per the prevailing practice so that there is no shortcoming on this count in the health institutions," Omar said.

At the meeting, Omar was briefed about the decisions taken in the last board meeting. He took stock of various other aspects related to the functioning and strengthening of the corporation, the spokesman said.

Managing Director of JKMSC Sheetal Nanda briefed everyone about the functioning of the corporation and its programme related to the procurement of medicines and equipment for the health institutions in the state, the spokesman added.
