Govt increases centage for Peyjal Nigam to 15 pc

A decision to raise the centage, a form of remuneration given by the government to the agency, from the existing 12.5 per cent was taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna, an official release here said.

The meeting was convened to resolve differences between the Nigam and the finance department.

Directing the officials to increase the centage to 15 percent, Bahuguna also asked them to adopt some measures for improving the financial condition of Peyjal Nigam.

Besides, the government would also contribute Rs 25 crore to its pension fund every year in view of the financial difficulty it is facing in paying such to its retired employees. The Nigam would be provided an additional amount for paying pending pension dues, he added.

Similarly, Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan would also be given an annual grant of Rs 5 crore in its Gratuity Fund.

It is the priority of his government to provide clean drinking water to people of the state, Bahuguna said while asking Peyjal Nigam to ensure timely completion of its projects while maintaining quality.

Bahuguna said it was necessary to fix accountability on engineers and officials of Peyjal Nigam for its improvement.

Among those present in the meeting included Finance Minister Indira Hridayesh, Drinking water Minister Mantri Prasad Naithani and Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain.
