Chief Minister Sonowal held a review meeting with the civil and police administration and discussed in detail the problems and prospects of Hojai district.
He asked Deputy Commissioner Dr S Laxmanan to initiate a survey and chalk out a comprehensive road map for development of the district.
"In line with the expectations of the people of Hojai, the state government will take a slew of measures to bring about an all round development of the new district," Sonowal said.
Taking stock of the status of Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, Deendayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, supply of pure drinking water, rural transportation in Hojai district, he assured to take steps for an accelerated development in the district.

The Chief Minister also sought information regarding the prevailing law and order situation of the district and asked Superintendent of Police Dibya Jyoti Mukherjee to take all pertinent steps for maintenance of sustained peace.

"As per our commitment, we are now preparing a land bank for our future growth," he added.
"As per our assessment, there are 700 Satras in Assam and a majority of them have been encroached upon. The government has decided that the eviction drive will continue till the target is achieved," Sonowal said.
The religious meeting was arranged to mark the 568th birth anniversary of Mahapurush Sreemanta Sankardeva.
Observing that 'Sahityarathi' Laxminath Bezborooah, Kolaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha, Roopkwar Jyoti Prasad Agarawala, Bhupen Hazarika and other eminent personalities of the state followed the ideals of Sankardeva, Sonowal said, "Following his ideals, we must work to enrich our literature and culture to earn a place in the world.
