The Opposition in Rajya Sabha on Monday poked holes in the Budget proposals, saying they are based on "unrealistic" assumptions, and accused the Government of living in denial over the state of the economy.
Initiating the debate on the Union Budget for 2020-21, Congress leader P Chidambaram said the economy was close to collapse and was being attended by "very incompetent doctors."
The economy is going through a peculiar situation and the GDP growth has declined for six consecutive quarters even as the country is not facing any food shortage, no double digit inflation, high foreign reserve and low global crude prices, he said
