Delhi government has exempted 'Chaar Sahibzaade', a Sikh religious movie from entertainment tax in the national capital.
Government's move comes after some Sikh bodies demanded tax exemption from Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung for the movie, which is based on the life of four sons of tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh.
A senior government official of Entertainment department said that they passed an order yesterday to exempt the religious movie directed by Harry Baweja from entertainment tax with immediate effect on the direction of Lt Governor.
"Chaar Sahibzaade is now entertainment tax free in the national capital," the official said.
Meanwhile, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has welcomed the move of Delhi government and said the movie will educate the present generation about the supreme sacrifice of the sons of 10th Sikh guru Guru Gobind Singh -- Sahibzada Ajit Singh, Jujhar Singh, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh.
"We want to thank the L-G for announcing the exemption of entertainment tax on Chaar Sahibzaade in the national capital," DSGMC president Manjit Singh GK said.
