"We are considering deploying home guards on board the DTC buses that operate in the evening," a transport department official said.
The government, in the wake of gang rape of a 23-year-old girl in a moving bus, had yesterday started deploying home guards in 89 DTC night service buses which will be running between 11 PM to 5 AM covering almost all parts of the city.
According to transport department officials, all the 89 buses are having a home guard each on board in the night.
The decision was taken after Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in a meeting with Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami and other officials had decided to deploy home guards and to increase the services of night buses from existing 42 to 89.
The decision was a part of the Delhi government's measures to enhance security of women in buses.
DTC operates a fleet of around 6,000 buses.
