"The government is not letting us work. There is not even a single help from the government. There is no honorarium, no staff, no steno, no vehicle, how can the Commission work in such a situation," Panchal told reporters at Rohtak.
Panchal, appointed as Chairperson during the Bhupinder Singh Hooda led Congress rule in May 2014, said that for past several months she and the commission's vice-chairperson and other staff were running the show by bearing their own expenses.
"I am using my own car whenever I have to visit a place. I am not getting a monthly honorarium of Rs 50,000... Despite such a behaviour from the government, I and other staff are pulling on as we do not want that women who come to us with high hopes should suffer.
"Daily the Commission gets 20-30 complaints of various nature. Today I was in Rohtak, where I disposed a few complaints. But how long can we pull on like this and meeting expenses from our own funds. Why is this government not cooperating? The Commission has had to cancel some meetings with officials like Protection Officers and others because we do not have money," she lamented.

"How can we give recommendation to government on various problems which the women are facing. No bills given by the Commission are passed by the government departments," she claimed.
"I even met the Chief Minister later. All I got is false assurances like we will look into it and facilities will be provided," she said.
Several attempts to contact Haryan's Women and child development director Renu Phulia did not fructify.
Continuing further, Panchal said, "I have written at least ten letters to the senior officials of the government during past few months highlighting the problems being faced by the Commission, but no reply has come from their side.
