The state government will work with honesty to ensure that people at every level has access to "just treatment", Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said today.
The CM, while handing out appointment letters to candidates selected for administrative posts at the state secretariat, said a "transparent selection process is a cornerstone of democracy".
"We are committed to work with honesty to weed out corruption with merit being the sole criterion for selecting candidates for government jobs," the chief minister said.
Altogether, 174 junior administrative assistants were selected from 40,000 applicants and 167 computer operators from 75,000 candidates for the state secretariat.
"Dispur as the state secretariat is the epicentre of all administrative exercises and people from 33 districts come here to get their work done. Ensuring good treatment to people who come from far-flung areas will generate faith in the administrative system," he said.
The CM urged the selected candidates, who will constitute an important segment of service delivery system, to treat those who come to the secretariat humanely.
Chief Secretary T Y Das, who was also present at the programme today, congratulated the new appointees and asked them to adopt 'work is worship' as their motto.
