Top government officials today visited areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir and assessed the situation there after a spurt in ceasefire violation by Pakistan, an official said.
Headed by Poonch Deputy Commissioner Tariq Ahmad Zargar, the team evaluated the damage to properties and livestock in heavy shelling by Pakistan security forces, he said.
Two persons, including an Army jawan, were killed and several others were injured in the shelling by Pakistan last week.
The officials met Mohammad Nasib, a father of three children, who was injured in the shelling in Sandhote village yesterday.
Deputy Commissioner Zargar gave Rs 10,000 to Nasib as interim relief and assured his family of all possible support.
The team also visited Drana, Basooni and Balakote areas.
