Govt opposes plea for CBI probe against Salim Raj

Kerala government today opposed the prayer for a CBI investigation into the land grabbing case against Salim Raj, former gunman of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who was removed after his name figured in the solar panel scam.
Advocate General K P Dandapani questioned the maintablity of petitions in this regard by Shariffa and Premachandran Nair.
Justice Harun-Al Rasheed asked "what is the interest of the government in a private complaint"?
The government also claimed effective steps have been taken by the DGP and there is no need for another investigation.
The hearing in the case has been adjourned to October 23.
Earlier, Director General of Police K S Balasubramanian had informed the High court that a Special Investigation Team has been constituted to probe the complaints of land grabbing cases against Salim Raj.

The court said "we have never seen a DGP forward a complaint to the Chief Minsiter's office. The DGP and all police officers are afraid of this constable".
The two complainants had approached the High Court seeking an investigation by a special team or CBI into two land deals in which Salim Raj is allegedly involved.
They had also sought impleadment of mobile service providers in the case seeking seizure of the phone records of Salim Raj.
