Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told state Legislative Assembly that the government was in process of forming regulations to impose fine on the customer drinking liquor in front of a wholesale vendor.
Parrikar said that even the wholesale vendor will be fined.
"The fine will be to the tune of Rs 500-600," he said.
BJP legislator Michael Lobo today told the House that several wholesale dealers put up tables in front of their shops and sell liquor.
The restaurants which pay regular taxes were suffering because of this new trend, Lobo said.
Parrikar said that the local excise inspectors would be made responsible to crack down on such illegal activity.
The state will put a ban on issuing any more licences for liquor outlets for the time being, till proper regulation is formulated, the chief minister said.
"A seven member committee will be formed to study the entire scene about the liquor licences in the state," he assured the House.
