Govt plans Rs 50 crore modernisation for silk factory, mill

Jammu and Kashmir government has formulated Rs 50 crore revival plan for modernisation of a silk factory and a woolen mill here.
"Over Rs 50 crore revival plan has been formulated for modernisation and upgrading of the government Silk Factory Rajbagh and Woolen Mills Bemina," an official spokesman said after a review meeting of industries sector here.
He said while Rs 22.48 crore would be spent for the development of the silk factory, Rs 18 crore would be incurred on the mill to enable these factories to produce a variety of woolen and silken fabrics on a higher commercial scale.
The meeting, chaired by Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, was informed that Joinery Mills at Jammu and Srinagar are also being upgraded at an estimated cost of Rs 10.30 crore, the spokesman said.
