Govt rejects 219 surrendered ultras' cases for rehabilitation

Cases of 219 surrendered militants for rehabilitation have been rejected out of 427 cases, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah informed the state Assembly today.
As many as 219 cases (of surrendered militants for their rehabilitation) have been rejected and 8 cases are under process, he said in a written reply.
He said that under the rehabilitation policy of surrendered militants, 427 cases have been received from January 31, 2004 to January 31, 2013.
Besides, ten cases were received under earlier policy.
Out of these, 437 cases incentives of Rs 295 crore in the shape of monetary incentives and stipend has been granted in 210 cases, he said.
Omar said 268 youth, who had exfiltrated to Pakistan for arms training have returned via Nepal since 2011 till date. 4,132 ultras are still in PoK and Pakistan.
