"Government is implementing a number of programmes for enhancing per capita monthly income. ...Besides, in order to provide better price to farmers, improve supply chain, reduce wastages etc., the government has recently approved a central sector scheme for promotion of National Agricultural Market through Agri-Tech Infrastructure Fund (ATIF)," Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation V K Singh said.
Singh said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha to a question on figures of per capita income and the schemes implemented.
"In agriculture, the union government supplements the efforts of state governments through various schemes for increasing production, productivity and profitability," he said.
Singh said measures were outlined in Union Budget 2014-15 and subsequent steps were taken to revive the growth of the economy and thereby increase per capita income.

The steps taken included giving fillip to industry and infrastructure through fiscal incentives and concrete measures for transport, power and other urban and rural infrastructure.
The Centre has adopted several measures that include promotion of FDI in select sectors, deregulation of diesel prices and finalisation of natural gas pricing policy, he said.
"Union Budget 2015-16 includes measures to boost employment and income with an increased focus on the irrigation, traditional agriculture, enhanced agricultural credit, rural infrastructure and rural employment, micro unit development refinance and credit to SC/ST enterprises and self-employment and talent utilisation along with consolidation of skill development initiatives," he added.
