Govt school clerk held for accepting bribe in Chhattisgarh

Agovernment school clerk wastoday arrested by anti-corruption bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting abribeof Rs 15,000 in Chhattisgarh's Balodabazar district.
Sunil Kumar Jaiswal (36), Assistant Grade III (clerk), posted at Prembhuvan Pratap Singh Government Higher Secondary School in Bhatgaon village of the district, was caught red-handed while accepting thebribefrom Narayan Prasad Sahu, anACBofficial told PTI.
The complainant Narayan's father Mohit Ram Sahu, who was posted as a peon at the school, died in January this year.
When the complainant contacted Jaiswal for the payment of GPF, insurance and gratuity of his deceased father, the accused allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000, he said.
The victim lodged a complaint to ACB whihc laid a trap.
Jaiswal agreed to accept thefirst instalment of Rs 15,000 of the bribe at his office in school, the official said.
A trap was laid there and as the accused received thebribeamount he was apprehended.
A case under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 has been registered against the accused, he added.
