Delhi government has directed all schools run by it to submit "no pending wages" undertaking certifying that salaries to all contract workers have been paid.
The directive comes after the government received complaints that a number of contract workers, like security guards, working in schools, have not been paid salaries for several months by respective contractors.
"Every Headmaster or Principal or officer concerned should certify that salaries have been paid to all contract workers working in schools.
"In each such case where salaries have been pending and are being paid now, reasons for the same should be given and responsibility fixed as to whether it was due to contractor's fault or because money was not released to con tractor so far," a communication from the Chief Minister's Office said.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Education has issued a circular asking all private agencies to submit the "no pending wages" certificates to the care-taking branch.
"All private outsourcing agencies providing sanitation and security services in the schools are directed to make payment of wages immediately. The contractors are also directed to submit 'No Pending Wages' certificates to the care-taking branch," an official circular said.
