Govt seeks explanation from IAS officer whose car hit woman

Haryana Government today sought "explanation" from senior IAS officer Anil Kumar in connection with a case involving a 90-year-old woman, who was allegedly hit by his car here.
"Haryana Chief Secretary has sought an explanation from IAS officer Anil Kumar in connection with his car hitting a the 90-year-old woman on September 25," official sources said here this evening.
The incident took place on September 25 when the car in which the IAS officer was reportedly present, allegedly hit former Army doctor, Capt. Paramjit Kaur Dhanoa (retd.) while she was entering Tagore theatre here along with her other family members, to watch a play .
The woman's son, Captain I P Dhanoa said, his mother received injuries on her face and head and also suffered broken rib.
The "explanation" was sought after the incident was extensively highlighted in the media.
The senior IAS officer, presently posted as Secretary, Industrial Training, Haryana, earned criticism from several quarters for alleged lack of apathy and not providing any medical assistance to the woman after the incident.

"Anil Kumar could have apologised to me for the incident but he never bothered," the victim said.
Her son had said, the family was upset with Kumar's lack of apathy and also for not providing any medical assistance. "He did not show any remorse and has not apologised for causing injuries till date," Capt Dhanoa had alleged.
Chandigarh Police had registered a case against "unknown driver" even though the vehicle had been identified as the official car of Anil Kumar, the victim's family said.
A case has been registered against "unknown driver" under various Sections of the IPC, including Section 279 (rash driving) and 337 (endangering the life and personal safety of others, police sources said.
Meanwhile, the IAS officer has also lodged a counter complaint against Gobind Singh, grandson of the 90-year-old victim, alleging that he used foul language against him on Facebook posts, they said.
He also sought registration of a case against all those who have used foul language against him on social media.
The Haryana officers' driver too has lodged a complaint alleging that he was assaulted by the victims' family at the Tagore Theatre after the incident, police sources said.
