"We are happy to announce the National Geosciences Award for the year 2013. The government will award 23 scientists for the contributions in this field," Steel and Mines Minister Narendra Singh Tomar told reporters here.
The awards will be given in eight categories like mineral discovery, discovery of fossil fuels, ground water exploration and mining technology among others.
Instituted in 1966, the award is so far given to 686 geoscientists.
The awards will be given away by President Pranab Mukherjee at a ceremony in Rashtrapati Bhawan on April 6.

IDSA elects Amway India's Rajat Banerji as its chairman
* Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) today said that Amway India National Head Corporate Affairs Rajat Banerji has been elected as its Chairman.
Apart from Banerji, several other office bearers as Vice Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary have also been elected in the new executive committee, IDSA said in a statement.
The newly elected members would serve for a one-year term, it further added.
