Hours after Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde rejected the allegation of phone-tapping of the Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Home R P N Singh said it was a matter of call details being obtained "scrupulously".
"At this point, we do not want to insinuate anybody or point fingers at anybody who may be behind it," he told reporters here.
"Preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Delhi Police. Four people have been arrested and investigation is on. Government is serious that we get to the bottom of it," he said.
Earlier, Shinde said in Rajya Sabha that the government did not authorise anybody to intercept the telephone of Jaitley.
"This was not a case of telephone-tapping. The Indian government is not tapping any member's phone," he said.
