Govt to hold workshop to focus opportunities for French cos

Puducherry government will soon hold a workshop to focus opportunities available to entrepreneurs from France to invest in different sectors in Puducherry, a former French colony.
A group of investors from France would be on a visit to Puducherry shortly and the government would bring to focus through a workshop the various investment opportunities available in different sectors for the French companies here, a release said.
A groupf of French officials today discussed with the Chief Secretary the proposals to be taken under joint initiatives of Puducherry and France here and they included the reconstruction of the Mairie (Municipal office) building which collapsed during rains two years ago.

The Mairie building was constructed in the 19th century by the then French government housing the office of the Mayor of Puducherry Municipality and also offices of Birth and Death Registrar and Revenue wing of the municipality.
The project would be executed with the aid from the World Bank.
